The main purpose of the base was to cash in on nostolgia. and boy did it work. It only needed to work once, and it exceeded expectations.
seriously tho, why (besides easy money) did they play it so safe and pretty much re make episode 4?
they should have done something new all together! i mean it's a Universe to explore!
unless the Star Wars universe really only has 20 people in it and there's always a death star type thing that is near by that can be destroyed.

Could also be a setup for significant shifts down the line. We see the familiar, and it then makes the shifts from that formula that much more significant. So, Rey might fall, while Kylo switches sides, etc.

I'd bet they will. It's just like if you were to be told, say...the tale of King Arthur, only they entirely changed the middle and end.
