The original purpose of BLM was to shed light on the corrupt justice system in relation to the black community. As with anything, it changed with all of the people supporting it. Some are incredibly hostile and/or racist. Some have the audacity to claim that other minority groups unlearn their anti-blackness when the black community is no saint when it comes to prejudice. But others are focused on the corrupt justice system But these same people also advocate for all minorities and whites to a degree The black community faces a unique problem in the U.S. I won't say it's worse than any other minority group as I'm only Black and Hispanic myself (but never truly fit in, don't think I ever will) but, it is a situation that needs to be dealt with. Of course, I just think that some people in power are corrupt and abuse that power on American citizens, which doesn't sit well with me. The "All Lives Matter" hash tag is the bullshit one. We don't live in a country where everyone is treated fairly or even respected. Some white people get called white trash by other white people. Some black people call other blacks n****rs. We do have a problem.

  • If you understood how little of the black population is killed unjustly by police, you would see no issue with the police You are 10x more likely to be killed by a black dude than a white cop and both are on near par with being hit by lightning, quite literally

Seems like you missed the point Also, I'm far more likely to be killed by a Christian White Male than I am to be killed by a cop or black person. How dangerous the cop or black person is depends on their values and what kind of person they are.

  • Actually no, you're still more likely to be killed by a black even despite populations lol

No, I'm not. Statistically, the average American would have that risk in a low income area. In my case, I have more to fear from Christian White Men who are anti-gay; I've only ever had my life threatened by this demographic, and this was before I even finished high school. And I was talking about the justice system as a whole, not just cops

  • As a white, you have a higher chance maybe but in general and not looking at race? Blacks are still higher risk

I'm not white. You ever come across skinheads? Well, that's what I'm told they're called. They are the most dangerous group for me personally. Anyway, like I said, you kind of missed the point. My comment is about a lot more than unjust police actions.

  • Since you're not white, you're most at risk of black murder to end your life still. 50% of the causes of death for blacks up until age like 30 is murder of which 90% is committed by other blacks

I don't live in an area that is highly populated by blacks. It's mainly composed of white people, and if I were murdered, it would be at the hands of a white male. If I lived in a low income area, like the Bronx, your statistic would hold true.

  • Bro, not matter where you go in this country, unless it is 100% white, you are practically universally more at risk from blacks than whites These are well known crime stats that hold true regardless of location

  • I agree, we do have a problem that many people from different races face. I wish it was easy to fix, but we have come a very long way & I know it will only get better. Thank you for your input & you do fit in, with me. I accept everyone & I wish everyone was like this. Race should not be seen, I wish it was not

Race, ethnicity, culture and differences aren't something that we should ignore. They should be seen; we just need to find a better way to coexist with each other as opposed to discriminating against one another for differences that we cannot control. I view the U.S. as a place that was supposed to be for anyone who shared the ideals the country claims to have (liberty, freedom and justice for all and a fair chance at the pursuit of happiness). I'd think American culture would enrich itself from the inclusion of other cultures. We adopt immigrants and their culture and they adopt ours. I mean, we're supposed to be the Melting Pot.

That is what the U.S. is, everyone has a fair chance. However there are people that keep racism alive, but it's not as rampant as the media & BLM makes it out to be. I love this country & I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We have come a very long way & we still have a ways to go.
That is what the U.S. is, everyone has a fair chance.
That's not true at all, and you're naive to believe that. This country isn't great for everyone. Racism is pretty rampant. Quite a lot of Americans are prejudiced in some way based on what they were taught, conditioned to believe, and experiences. I understand you want unity, but you can't ignore the past and the aftereffects of the past. There's a reason minority groups hold a grudge. Being Black, Hispanic and Gay, I know just how "fair" this country and its people can be, and I was born here.

  • Dude I lived in compton & section 8 housing. My family was dirt poor & now I have my own business. Not everyone has ambition or the drive to change their life, that's the problem. & no it's not as bad as it was in the past. Things have changed & they change & better every day. Holding onto the past doesn't do anyone any favors either.

I don't think you understand, and that's a shame. I'm sorry, but I don't think we'll see eye to eye on this topic.

  • Probably not, even though I am Hispanic & grew up poor, I will never choose to act like a victim or blame others for my problem. Not saying that's you, it's just what I see happening nowadays. Thanks for sharing your opinion
