Would you have gotten hit by any other melee over the railing?

By a throwing knife? Yes. Any other meele? Probably not in that situation.

Any warlock melee would have connected in that scenario. Uncharged titan and Hunter melees, not so much. I attribute it to a larger hit box for a flying body than a Fist or knife. Yes it looks like it shouldn't happen in the real world, but video games can only approximate real physics.

It's very likely that any melee strike would have hit you. It would be stupid otherwise.
