Just because you give them the rights to your work, doesn't mean they won't pay a commission to the creator.
I'm a freelance software developer. Nearly every contract I've had with every company I've worked with there is a clause in the contract that states the work I do and code I write will belong to that company when I'm finished.
I still get paid.

That sounds like a shitty deal- I can understand that in software development, but this isn't some program you wrote up for a corporation to use [i]forever[/i]. Graphics and photos these days are now licensed out from the content creator, unless the aforementioned corporation really, really wants it at which point a new license is drafted to properly accommodate the original content creator whilst still maintaining their rights to the original work.

It's just business man. If you don't like it, don't submit artwork.

It'd be business if the commission rates were available before they tried to license the work of the artist.
