I don't think you need the quest to play the mission. The quest simply yields a reward.

The very first mission isn't replayable unless I pick up the quest, but I don't know whether the quest will reset when abandon it, I want it to reset so that I can rewatch the cutscenes

once you complete a part of quest the quest part is consided has done so even if you adandon the quest it is still consided has done and no you can not reset the quest after you get the reward for that part of the quest

All of the cutscenes, the cutscenes where you go to and leave the reef, the cutscene where you meet the speaker, the cutscene where the exo stranger gives you the rifle( i think this one can be seen if I beat the black garden mission) and the cutscene where you first arrive at the tower.

some are by selecting the first mission on the worlds ie stranger call venus but the one when you arrive to the tower for the first time i think is not replay able and if you can not get the cutsence back you will have to start a new game again sorry for that i know it a bummer
