Exotics are they exotic?

Most exotics are now outclasses by legendaries, why use read death when I can half the kill time with a pdx? Now I know there are some exotics that feel better than their purple brother like last word and mida. How ever I. The less used exotics u propose a 10% buff to damage and stability, exotics should beat legendaries, and be harder to get, increase raid drop rate, make strange coins hard to get and remove three of coins. And do any exotic quest guns seem that great, chaperone? First curse? How often us touch of malice used, for all the crap you did? Sleeper simulant is terrible Edit: I think exotics that are in a bad archetype should get a buff, or all in the archetype, like red death.

  • Tlw doesn't even have an exotic perk anymore

    • I think of exotics as more of a handy cap for if you can't use a gun type or a skill because exotics are not needed at all in destiny, exotics give minor boost in some minor parts of the game play, it's also why some exotics make me mad like thorn and tlw (before last patch) now tlw is more stable now, so im not as mad. exotic shouldn't be relied on and instead used more as a way to learn new game styles and how to use a gun type or skill

    • The way I see it there are 3 kinds of exotics. True Exotics - Weapons that look and feel unique. Bad Juju, Thorn, Vex Mythoclast Stat Exotics - Weapons that don't necessarily feel exotic, but are still popular because of their excellent stats. Hawkmoon, Thunderlord. Underwhelming Exotics - Weapons that don't have flashy perks or excellent stats. Not necessarily bad, but not worthy of an exotic slot either. The First Curse, Boolean Gemini.

    • Exotics are designed to be unique, something to help define your loadout. They are not designed to be stronger.

The chaperone is my new all time favorite exotic. My previous one was the patience and time, but the chaperone just has a great skill curve and a great weapon design that makes me love it more. The touch of malice has a great con and a great bonus, it probably shouldn't cause flinch when you shoot yourself though. I have to say I think you're underestimating the punch of the sleeper stimulant. All year 1 had was like two great exotics that overshadowed everything. Gjallarhorn and maybe something like the vex. No one cared about any other Exotic. Rarely did you hear about the plan C or the patience and time, or even the 4th horseman. After the auto rifle patch, SUROS disappeared. I guess y2 went about exotics the wrong way. Rather than making everything fantastic they made everything mediocre. I don't want what year 1 had. I want something new, where maybe the chaperone is the new bar for exotics. Where it takes a certain play style and a certain getting used to, to be fantastic.

          • Sleeper stim tears through bosses, and touch of malice goes perfect with a defender. Or maybe just to finish that guy in crucible that has 1% health. Not sure about 1st curse and chaperone, I haven't had them yet.

Sleeper Simulant is not terrible. Isn't just not an all purpose weapon like Gjallarhorn was. It shreads through bosses. Two SS rounds will stagger Oryx. Not to mention it does crit damage. Using it on lower tier mobs is pointless though. Touch of Malice does suck, but mainly because it hurts you as well, how ever everyone forgets the Touch of Mercy perk which heals you after three kills. Not that hard to do. I use the First Curse often. It's like a scout rifle disguised as a hand cannon. The Chaperone don't really know, but it seems the shotgun nerfs hit it pretty hard.

            • Exotics were never meant to be more powerful than legendaries. They were supposed to be basically legendary with unique perks (I always said they should have called them Unique, Exotic was just going to confuse people) though some have lost their uniqueness. Plenty of Pulse rifles should be able to outgun red death if the user is more skilled or gets the drop on the red death user. However red death gives the slight advantage of immediate regen on kill, so if the red death user wins he's slightly better off than the other pulse user but not outrageously so. They were not intended to be super rare. Xur is evidence enough of that.

              • Exotics shouldn't even be allowed in PvP. They're a nuisance, they choke the life out of the game, and they force Bungie to balance around keeping 2-3 guns in each weapon class relevant.
