Military is definitely the best way to start. In a realistic situation it's impossible to get out of debt quickly, you have to crawl out.

I disagree with starting with the military. I'd certainly cut it, and probably to a similar degree. I'd [i]start[/i] with entitlements, though. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are the biggest problems. But yes, there's no way we can come up with $20 trillion in a short period. We need to eliminate the $520 billion dollar deficit, first.

Those services don't need to be reduced, just reworked where they can't be abused.

Abuse isn't even the problem. By themselves they account for trillions in unfunded liabilities. The money isn't there.
