The covenant would wreck the first order. A small group of rebels could take out their main base, so I'm pretty sure a large well trained army could too

Proof? Also that is not a reason for them being able to get through the shields.

Banshees missiles are huge exploding balls or plasma that can easily destroy almost anything

Well, you can't prove it either way, because the two haven't faced the same foes (or eachother)
