I think it is really underrated. The cinematography was amazing. That long, uncut fightscene in the begining where the Natives attack the traders is a better fight scene than any action movie.

Ikr? They did a really good job all around. They showed the ruthlessness of the natives, but they also showed the greediness and hypocrisy of both the French and Pioneers. The bear scene was really intense as well.

George Lucas rolled over in his not dug grave when he saw that Bear attack. It looked so real. At many times it really made me wince or feel cold. Not my favorite movie but it is certainly up there.
