I am going solely off of what every PS fanboy has said to me for the last 3 years. It's more powerful and can do native 4K while Neo won't so that alone makes it better.
In all seriousness I have posted before that MS next console would be way more powerful than X1 & anything Sony may put out. It was nice to see MS flex muscles that Sony just doesn't have.
Video is decent but I think you will see that by Xmas this year a nice size 4K tv will be more affordable. Also I believe the Scorpio will be the same price as Neo.

How do you know it is more powerful than the neo? Pulling things out of your ass?
-
Seriously?? Or are you just living up to your name
-
Seriously. The neos specs aren't out. If the neos specs were released then I would respect your opinion.
-
The rumored specs( by multiple sources ) have the Neo at 4.25 teraflops while Scorpio is 6 teraflops. Also rumored bandwidth has the Scorpio over 100 Gb higher than Neo. Honestly, how do you not know this
-
Rumored. Key word. Not everything is true. They can easily change it. If a "source" without evidence says it it's not true until confirmed.
-
Believe what you want but I believe this. MS will never ever allow itself to be the underpowered console ever again. After all the shit talking pony bullshit that even Andrew -blam!-ing House made snide comments at E3 about graphics/ resolution. Do you really think that MS was gonna take that shit? From a company who is worth what MS makes in a quarter. -blam!- no
-
I don't understand why consoles are still a thing anyways. Microsoft is making a horrible move.
-
Because PCs suck
-
Do xbox one and Xbox scorpio suck? Why are you supporting it then?
-
This is just stupid now. Let's move on
-

The same price as the NEO? Phil said it himself, it's going to be an enthusiast console. Going to be very expensive.
-
What do you consider very expensive? I remember paying 600+ for my PS3 at release.
-
The PS3 made Sony lose money. Very few people bought it. They lowered the price a couple of months later. But I would guess at least $700
-

I don't think they will make the same mistake as X1 launch. 1st off it is a console. People see it as a console and with that comes an expectation of affordability. Every console that has started at $500 or higher have all struggled till it dropped in price( see PS3 & X1 for examples) Now maybe MS doesn't care but I think they do. 2) if Neo launches late this year or early 2017 and is $400-450 then let's look at the fact that it is roughly 4.5 teraflops and other similar hardware to the Scorpio. Add in MS enormous bulk buying power which means it can get more parts for a lower cost than Sony and it seems reasonable that MS can come in close to Neo or even match it. 3) Phil has said in multiple interviews that price point is the key to Scorpios success. You take that and the fact that if they can produce a more powerful console at the same price point ( especially after the fiasco that was the X1 reveal) and it seems like a no brainer. Obviously neither of us know for sure but it will be interesting.
-
If it's below $600 they need the current amount of X1 sales to at least quadruple so they don't lose money. 4K Pcs cost at least $700. They can't set it lower or they'll lose money because, Console Built = around 700 Console Price = around 500 Profit = -200
-
You're look at it in the wrong way. The console manufacturers have many streams of revenue. They make their own games, they get royalties off every single game sold on their consoles, they get a cut of every digital sale, they make money off their subscription services, and they sell peripheries.
-
Okay, -100.
-
It wouldn't be unusual for them to lose $100 on each console built. They end up making more than $100 off of you after you buy the console. I also don't think that Microsoft is going to be manufacturing the Scorpio at $700 a unit. What the individual thinks it would cost to build a Scorpio based on going out and buying the components themselves does not equal what it will cost Microsoft to build the console.
-
It would still be -100, they make 100 off of the extra income but still lose the other half. Why is that?
-
I'm not sure what you're asking. Why does Microsoft lose money on consoles and make income off other stuff?
-
Why would it cost them less to make than an average person?

Edited by Vgnut: 6/28/2016 11:42:04 PMEconomy of scale is the big reason. By producing things on a mass scale it brings down the cost per unit. Microsoft has multi million dollar contracts with providers of the parts used in the Xbox One. Where you would go to a store to buy a part you might find in an Xbox One for a retail price Microsoft is buying those components in the millions right from the manufacturer. Microsoft is able to get specified parts tailor made for their console. Consoles, like all electronics, are assembled en mass at factories dedicated to their assembly. Microsoft employees engineers dedicated to making this machine efficient and able to be produced in the most efficient way possible. Even the exchange rate matters for how much is costs to make consoles as they are often manufactured in China and Brazil. Simply put trying to estimate the price of what a Scorpio would cost to make is hard to do because the prices you are paying for those components are not what Microsoft is paying. Microsoft buys in such monumental quantities and has the skills and resources to make things cheaper to produce than any individual ever could.

Maybe but profit on a console is not usually a priority. Xbox lost money on 360 hardware for the first 4 years I believe. Now $200 is a big loss so I'm not saying they would go that far but it will be curious. I'm wondering, what do you think the Neo will cost. I know it's not nearly as powerful as Nei but there are some similarities
