It's more than that. Sword logic. Knowledge is power. Power is pain. Pain is life. Is the fundamental of sword logic. Killing proves you're right to exist over what you killed and proving your existence to be powerful brings knowledge of the secrets of the deep. Which in turn grants more power. Which needs more pain giving and taking life.. ad infinitum
Oryx is more than a master of will he's a master of shapes reshaping things to his will. Planets, being, realities, all things shapable given sufficient power.

Crotas, is during our encounter on his timeline, to establish the hives power in our solarsystem. Oryx's is to use his gathered power to get revenge. Crota brings out his fathers will, his father craves revenge for his death and offcourse thinks something powerfull enough to kill Crota must be worth devouring. So anyways they all have motive and goals. So infinity is merely a bonus and not somewhere they're headed.

The link I sent you explains both with reference. Sword logic is gaining more power by killing with a sword or some other weapons.

But yes offcourse but I have never disagreed with the meaning of the two. I was simply referring to the latin words of ad infinium as how ad finum would be more suited for any living creature. Ad finum ( to the goal)
