I was under the impression that his shield was immune to all but arc damage. I'll have to try that.

Not immune, just a really really tough shield, so unless it's arc you're not doing enough

I've recently found a Two to the Morgue with Crowd Control and Performance Bonus that I'm loving in PvE.

Oh I've killed him plenty times. I just wondered how much damage golden gun/nighthawk/deadeye would do to him.

His arc shield is one of the best. A few blasts from an arc shotty followed by a Nighthawk shot would probably reduce him to dust.
