There are actually references to some infection in the Grimoire. I can't remember the name of the Guardian, but he gathered a group together to head south. The southern part of the Wall is where SIVA is located mostly. That group of Guardians was never heard from, but Ghosts started arriving back at the tower with some sort of corruption on them. That is most likely the machine plague SIVA that corrupted them.

  • It's was Jagi's host if memory serves, a compatriot to Radagast before he was an Iron Lord. This was stated before but this could be a different infection (we don't know how SIVA effects the body/tech)

  • SIVA is a virus composed of self-replicating nanobots. This is why the Fallen are so interested in it. They themselves can now become the machine gods they worship. And the area where Jagi's Host went goes right through where SIVA is located.

  • Self-replicating huh... Does this effect only machinery or also life forms? Cause if so they the Fallen Devils could easily be puppeteer ed by something

  • Affects machines and life forms. Can essentially turn life forms into machines. Self-speculation: SIVA may have something to do with the creation of the Vex.

  • Maybe but it doesn't explain the time factor (plus the 'infection' looks differently than what the Vex have) and they came from a different system it seems. I speculate that it has something to do with the Warminds (Either Rasputin or another Warmind {SIVA maybe?} has created this virus)

  • I mean the Vex could be an organic life-form that either was or will be infected by SIVA. The Vex themselves are a mix of organic and machine components. This would help to explain how they can transform planets and build units so quickly. SIVA itself is a Golden Age creation. They probably saw how dangerous it could be which is why it was locked away in a vault.

  • The Vex can rebuild so quickly because they can quite literally reinforce themselves because of their Time traveling capabilities, weather this leads to the Vex... or SIVA being a prototype to the Vex is plausible... If memory serve, the Iron Lords sacrificed themselves to lock away SIVA in the Vault the last being Saladin who watches over it.

  • But they do build, that is their entire purpose. The weapons they have were originally meant as construction tools. And then you have times like when they built Qurian or whatever it's name is, the Vex answer to Crota.

  • That's true as well though still I don't think SIVA is related to the Vex

  • Well, if rumors are to be believed, Destiny 2 is going to focus on Osiris and the Vex. RoI having some minor relation to the Vex and being a lead up to Destiny 2 would make sense.

  • It would yes seeing as RoI is supposed to be the last big DLC or the next to last one before Destiny 2
