Been playing the BFG Edition on my laptop while deployed. Can't wait to get home and start this game. From what I've seen, I like the look of the new baron.
could the reason there are so few threads for DOOM be that the community really IS mostly children?
I'm still on my first run through. Started on Ultra-Violence too.. nothing has disappointed me yet. It's new but still feels like the original in level pacing and firefights. Also, I think you may be on to something with the lack of threads about it. I was 8 when the original doom came out and man, it scared the crap outta me back then. IMO it's a good thing the kiddies are staying away though.

Ultra-Violence is THE way to play. Considering the fact that they nuked everything they worked on after half a decade and re-worked it from the ground up... it gave me a good feeling for what was to come and the wait has been utter Hell.
from angry parents...
I remember finally beating the original game with my friend at his house (on his brother's computer). Good times... then I got the one on 64 that made me rage.

  • Yeah I remember splitting my time between games like donkey kong/Yoshi's Island and then Doom 1 and 2 haha. That level that led to the secret mission from knee-deep.. first time I'd gotten scared of any game. In fact I didn't play another game that made me jump until Bioshock. The new Doom is bringing back that feeling though and I love it. Getting chased around tight quarters by a hell knight is pretty great lol

  • I remember the Wolfenstein levels in DOOM 2: Hell on Earth. That was fun..... BFG edition replaced all the enemies with undead though. Now I REALLY can't wait to go home.
