You really think there's a difference don't you? His number got called and he refused which caused another person to be called which for all we know that person who took his spot died and guess what? That blood is on Ali's hands. He claimed he didn't want to fight but his actions directly caused another to have to fight. Selfish by all means.
Wrong..... As a citizen in whatever country you call home, you should feel obligated to help your country by all means. Forget the bull**** "its not my war" crap! It is your war.....you live in this country and reap the benefits of being here, so pay your dues. If that means fighting for your country when asked to do so, then do it! Obviously, i did not know Ali personally, but in my eyes he acted as a coward, while disguising it as a protestation of our government. That is truly "Un-American".
That blood is on the country's hands. Yes there is a difference. He was drafted. He went through the whole process and chose not to enlist afterwards for reasons we all know by now and let's not forget the same country overturned. Most agree with and the rest are oblivious to because all they know is "draft dodger". A draft dodger is someone who would've fled the country, or do whatever it took to not be drafted. The man was DRAFTED! How did he dodge it? You don't see the difference?
