I do agree it could have a different perk changed like the exotic rocket. I feel thorns exotic perk should be something that activates on kill like a couple of exotics right now. Like getting a kill with thorn causes that player to explode with a grenade range explosion that activates the poison damage and because it requires a kill, the DOT could be slightly less than when it was op. Sort of like the necrochasm only that it doesn't kill people, it just activates the poison to stop people from regenerating health for maybe 3 seconds? You don't want anything more than that because people will exploit it very fast. I hate thorn with a passion but I think its probably because it just has an unfair advantage without a small sacrifice like red death, necrochasm, bad juju, monte carlo. All of these guns are awesome in their own way and their exotic perks activates on kill. If thorn gets changed to the way Mentioned then it wouldn't be op since the DOT would only affect people nearby their allies and even then it would only do a max of lets say 50 damage? Thats not so bad right? I also feel the vex needs a buff too and so should ice breaker. These guns should come to year 2 already but I feel bungie is saving that up until this next DLC comes out. Oh and I forgot to mention thorn already has better stats than any other hand cannon in the game so that needs to stay the same.
