A little tip (I would likely make a terrible parent so take it with a grain of salt) you should introduce your child to a second language early on (like 1st grade-ish) similar to what is done in German schools (and most Germans speak English as a result)
Do it In such a way that the child dosen't mix English and whatever else.
English

I had to learn American and Australian English at a young age
-
Yeah nah
the best example of Australian English
-
My parents did that to me. Now, I can speak English fluently. (My first language is Spanish.)
¡Viva México!
-
Perfect example. I believe all capable parents should do this with their children.
-
Yeah, then all of the population will be more intelligent, and maybe will have more culture.
-
A dampened language barrier will definitely increase culture. One of many reasons that bilingualism is advantageous.

My wife and I are discussing enrolling him in a Montessori school. Her cousin's 3 year old daughter is enrolled in one and is learning French.
-
When I was a kid I got interested into English though there wasn't a need. I learned it fairly quickly. Now I know a total of 2 languages: Croatian and English Perhaps if I got myself interested into other languages aswell I'd learn them pretty quickly (If I got myself interested into them while I was a kid I mean)

I started learning French in kindergarten and damn it's useful, also if they learn a second language I think French or Spanish would be the bet cause they are very useful in this time and day and because if you know them, learning the other language and Italian will be a lot easier!
-
Great idea. I would recommend Spanish and English though. Both very helpful languages in our world today and pretty easy to pick up on. English as a first language I mean
-
Well, I speak English, German and Spanish :)
-
Funny thing, I speak Spanish naturally, my second language is English, and I'm learning German.
-
Yep. I would personally teach them German and English, but only because our family has ties to Germany.
Doch ich will kein Kinder
