I agree to some extent but for the people who have garbage connections, how hard is it really to get better internet...
You got about $150,000-$200,000 USD so I can upgrade the wiring in my apartment so I can get the cable companies to even look in our general direction? Didn't think so. -blam!- off with the elitist attitude.

OK first of all blam off are you serious...afraid to use big boy words and second that's your problem you live in a shitty apartment. I said Internet was affordable not rewiring your apartment

When you have no control over what plan you have with which provider and your parents decide they want to run literally everything off wifi and a direct connection isnt an option its pretty damn hard.
-
Direct connection is always an option. Buy a 10 dollar cable hook up to your router or range finder and plug into your ps3 ps4 xbox 360 or xbox1but if your a kid without a job you shouldn't be complaining and focus on school

There are people in rural areas where WISPs are their only choice for internet outside of dialup. A typical WISP network will have 50 to 100 ms of latency just across the network, once you leave that, and go out to the internet you can add another 50+ ms of latency to that. Now, P2P to a player on the opposite side of the country to you and see how high the latency spikes. Not everyone can just put in their order for Google fiber, or a 60Mbps cable connection. It's sad how close minded, and unaware people are on this forum.

When I say direct connect I simply mean running a wire from your system to your router. Simple example using myself. My old router on WiFi was yellow bar I switched routers and got hard wired now I'm green and little lag except for the occasional spike. Sorry not everyone is like Einstein but I know from experience it works
