You left out the part where Blizzard took over a decade to learn this lesson. I used an editor for every Diablo and StarCraft and never got in trouble once. Hackers and exploiters will always be one step ahead of game companies.
I'm not condoning cheating, those games got to the point where you almost had to to keep up, just saying that it takes a while for companies to learn to get rid of players like that.

I do get what you're saying, but I still think Blizzard has the right idea even though it took them a while to learn it. If Bungie or Ubisoft want either of thier games to succeed more, they'll need to get tougher with issuing bans. Or at least that's my take on it.
