~Counter 1. RUN AWAY. It's that easy. Once you're out of range of the bolt the damage fall off is 100%. You will not take any damage whatsoever.
I can't count how many times I've ran outside of the radius and still been tagged
~Counter 2. Run into the firebolt. During the time the firebolt lands it will "search" for enemies. During this time you can run into the firebolt and set it off without getting a burn debuff and saving your allies. the damage you receive is equal to a normal bolt. If you're too far away, it's probably best you just run, since this searching phase is pretty quick.
Near no-one will have the reaction time for this
~Counter 3. Use healing perks. Every class has a subclass with them. Warlocks have the Voidwalker's Life Steal and technically the Stormcaller's Transcendence, but the Stormcaller's perk only works on super activation. Warlocks also have Apotheosis Veil, but like Transcendence, only works on super activation. Titans have the Sunbreaker's Cauterize and the Striker's Transfusion (this is the least effective since it requires Storm Fist/Shoulder Charge kills). Hunters have the Bladedancer's Hungering Blade (this is the second least effective since is requires Blink Strike/Arc Blade kills). If you don't want to specifically use those subclasses you can use a healing weapon such as Red Death, Suros Regime, or any legendary with Life Support. While all these perks won't stop the burn completely, it will bring your health back up quite a bit. So much so, you won't be one shot. Having high recovery is also good since it can drastically reduce the time you're out of play. With low recovery it takes you about 14 seconds to fully recover, but with high recovery it takes you only about 10 seconds. One last thing. Equipping armor with the "Reduced Solar Burn" Perk is also really effective.
HEALING WEAPONS ARE NOT VIABLE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT 1V1 A SUNSINGER WHILE BURNING WITH THESE SHITTY KILL TIMES. RED DEATH REQUIRES 3 BURSTS TO KILL FOR F**KS SAKE
~Counter 4. Blink/Evade. While blink was nerfed it's still an effective escape plan. If you blink to the side right as the firebolt lands, you can be out of range. The Nightstalker's Shadestep will completely negate any damage if timed properly. The Titan's Twilight Garrison can get you out of range, but won't negate damage from another source.
~Counter 5. Find cover. If you call bullsh*t on this it's probably because lag is what screwed you over. Hiding behind a wall is 90% effective.
These are the only two viable options in this thread for 1v1ing a Warlock.
~Counter 6. Stay there and fight. Most players want to ensure they get the kill, so it is highly likely they will chase you. They will also most likely continue to fire on you even if you are burning. The faster they get the kill, the less they'll have to deal with. You can still manage to trade (or win if you use healing perks or are good with strafing) with them if you're a good player.THE TIME TO KILL IS TOO LONG NOW FOR THIS TO BE A VIABLE OPTION.
~Counter 7. Bait the Warlock. This strategy is primarily for when you get tagged. Just wait around the corner with a shotgun, sidearm, or whatever and get them to come after you. Like I said in the previous counter, most players will chase after you. If they don't chase after you then they basically wasted a firebolt, unless one of their teammates kills you, but you most likely would've been screwed anyway since you were probably in a 2v1 situation.
If you don't have a shotgun, you lose.
~Counter 8. Kill the Warlock before the firebolt hits you. This won't stop the bolt, but it will negate the burn from taking place. This really only works if you have focused team fire though and should probably be a next to last resort.
NOT A VIABLE OPTION WITH THESE SHITTY KILL TIMES

I agree entirely except that the Fabian strategy has the TTK to pull off the heal if you are lucky.
-
So does Suros Regime and it's also a better weapon for PVP
-
Lol. You think suros doesn't blow
-
That's only a chance and so it is not an option
-
I don't have any Gunsmith ranks on my Titan or Lock, I'll have to take your word on that one
-
Lol chill he is trying to help you

Edited by Levigumba, Overload's Bane: 5/17/2016 7:45:20 PMFor counters 1&2 you must judge your distance appropriately. If you're in the middle of the two your best option is to run into it. You may only have one second to act, but that can be a huge difference. For counter 3 I listed subclasses with healing perks, most of which have abilities that cause fast deaths and heal you fast. Gor counter 6 like I previously said, you have to strafe. And with a fast ttk weapons (high rof hand cannons and auto rifles) you can kill them in less than a second. Your best chance is auto rifles. For counter 7 if you're good with a fusion rifle or great with a sniper you can win also. For counter 8 like I said, IT REQUIRES FOCUSED TEAM FIRE. That's how you avoid low ttks. P.s. you probably haven't even tried any of these and are just assuming the out come.
To assume something makes an @SS out of U and ME
Edited by Zoey: 5/17/2016 7:47:40 PMExcept: 1) The middle is too short both time and size wise to be a viable tactic. Sure you might run in luckily, but it's not something you'll do consistently 2) Like I said, I can't count the amount of times I've been well out of the range and still gotten tagged 3)
Warlocks have the Voidwalker's Life Steal
Melee range (half viable if your opponents are shit)
Stormcaller's Transcendence, but the Stormcaller's perk only works on super activation. Edited by Levigumba, Overload's Bane: 5/17/2016 7:57:02 PMWhilt it maybe inconsistent, it's still a viable option. Firebolts themselves are actually inconsistent. Yes you need kills, but shoulder charge is one hit, fusions are one hit, flux are one hit, backstab is one hit (and partly broken), sunstrike can one hit, but needs a little gun help since the ticks can take too long. Suros doesn't need to kill to heal. It just requires damage.
-
It's funny, because everything you mentioned is single target, and most are close range.
-
I also said in the original post that in most cases a 2v1 is a you will die case.
-
Whilt it maybe inconsistent, it's still a viable option.
But it's not a consistent option
Firebolts themselves are actually inconsistent.
Hahahahahaha
Yes you need kills, but shoulder charge is one hit,
Sure let me go from standing still and getting tagged by a Firebolt to full on charging at a Warlock who only needs one bullet to put me down
fusions are one hit,
Requires you to expose yourself to hit them, maybe you can do it near cover. MAYBE.
flux are one hit
Lol? Flux don't even give health regen
backstab is one hit (and partly broken)
MELEE RANGE
sunstrike can one hit
ALSO MELEE RANGE
but needs a little gun help since the ticks can take too long.
Alright so it CAN'T one-hit?
Suros doesn't need to kill to heal. It just requires damage.
And for half of your mag to be empty beforehand.
-
Yes they have to hit once, then wait 7 seconds if they want only the burn to kill you. More than enough time to melee though. No. Sunstrike can one hit, but since the TTK (TIME TO KILL) can take 5 seconds, it's a long ttk. A weapon shortens this. Forgot that flux won't heal, but that doesn't change the fact that it can get rid of one of your problems.
-
Yes they have to hit once, then wait 7 seconds if they want only the burn to kill you. More than enough time to melee though.
Do you even read what you type? More than enough time to melee? Mate if I'm tagged and run towards them I'm f**ked no matter what, one hand cannon bullet will kill me before I even get close
No. Sunstrike can one hit, but since the TTK (TIME TO KILL) can take 5 seconds, it's a long ttk. A weapon shortens this.
So a long TTK that doesn't OHK on direct impact? So it doesn't one-hit in any useful situation, got it.
Forgot that flux won't heal, but that doesn't change the fact that it can get rid of one of your problems.
Yeah that guy's dead but what about if I've already taken a bullet (MORE THAN LIKELY SINCE I HAD TO RUN OUT TO STICK THE GUY)? OH RIGHT I burn out because flux isn't a counter to burn damage.
-
Most hand cannons deal about 60-70 damage to the head. Firebolts in total damage do 162, but that's after 7 seconds. The bolt itself does 85 damage. 85 + 60-70 = 145-155 =/= one hit damage. It does leave you at one hit health and you have anywhere from 3-4 (given at most)seconds to kill him and heal. All weapons have a kill time of 1.5 seconds or less. It's just like the sunstrike, except bolts NEED out side help to kill. If you can manage a trade and keep at least a 1 kd.
-
Except if I'm charging them with a gun they're only going to need half the time to put me down that I would to put them down. WEAPON KILL TIMES IN THIS GAME ARE SO SLOW THAT IF MY OPPONENT HAS ANY IDEA HOW TO PULL A TRIGGER AFTER TAGGING ME WITH A GRENADE, I AM GOING TO DIE. IT'S PRETTY F**KING SIMPLE.
-
You have to be an idiot to charge to them with your gun. THAT'S WHY YOU STRAFE. Look up the word sometime. P.s. DoP has a ttk of .9 second
-
You have to be an idiot to charge to them with your gun.
Going out of cover to challenge = charging. Or using a shotgun. But that's why you strafe? You don't F**KING SAY. That's how I beat three Thorns in year one. I HAVE EIGHTEEN DAYS OF CRUCIBLE ON MY HUNTER ALONE AND HAVE BEEN PLAYING FPS SINCE THE F**KING PS2. You don't seem to understand that they can shoot me ANYWHERE and do damage, all they have to do is aim for center mass and they'll still kill me quicker than I kill them, strafing doesn't do much good at close range unless they aim for the head.
P.s. DoP has a ttk of .9 second
Right but I don't like the Doctrine, and it won't heal me, and if they're using a Doctrine after I've been tagged then they'll only need .45 seconds to kill me, so... Statement irrelevant

Edited by Levigumba, Overload's Bane: 5/17/2016 9:36:02 PMStrafing is meant for mid-long range. If you're in close range -blam!-ING MELEE OR SHOTGUN THEM. We've been going in -blam!-ing circles with this and you still can't grasp the concept of it. Also Charging = to rush toward your opponent, not to get out off cover and challenge. Getting out of cover to challenge is just -blam!-ing fighting. It's like you can't think for yourself. Go back and reread everything I've said before making your next comment. And put more effort in your thoughts.
-
Yes let me melee or shotgun a Warlock while playing a Titan with a sniper rifle. Great ideas.
We've been going in -blam!-ing circles with this and you still can't grasp the concept of it.
Alright.... I FULLY F**KING UNDERSTAND STRAFING YOU MORON, I'VE BEEN PLAYING FPS FOR ALMOST THIRTEEN YEARS AND HAVE MORE SKILL IN MY F**KING PINKY FINGER THAN YOU HAVE AT ALL. THERE IS ALMOST NO LONG RANGE IN THIS GAME AT ALL, AND EVEN DOCTRINE (A FAST FIRING AUTO RIFLE WITH LITERAL NERF GUN IMPACT) WILL SHRED YOU AT MID RANGE IF THE PERSON KNOWS HOW TO PULL THE TRIGGER.
Also Charging = to rush toward your opponent, not to get out off cover and challenge. Getting out of cover to challenge is just -blam!-ing fighting.
Same thing when you're challenging a Warlock while burning, you'll be dead in one bullet anyway so... Y'know... If I'm going out of cover to shoot at someone... Yeah...
-
Let me siplify it for you. Would you rather: trade or possibly win the fight OR die like a little bitch that you're sounding like right now. I don't care how long you've been playing fps or whatever the hell your skill is. You're just an asshole who has nothing better to do than belittle others who are trying to -blam!-ING HELP THE COMMUNITY. I've tried all the tactics and they all work fine for me. If you're good right now, then why are you even on the -blam!-ING POST?!?!?!
-
Trade or possibly win... Right... Because when weapons take so long to kill people I can actually challenge someone with half my health when I literally only get matched with people who can aim their weapons... Maybe it works down there in the .8 range but up here you're basically dead no matter what. Why am I on the post? Because you're trying to lecture me about PvP when I know way more than you do. If you didn't like my reply, you didn't have to talk to me in the first place ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Edited by Levigumba, Overload's Bane: 5/17/2016 11:19:39 PMOh no. I never back down from a challenge. You have your -blam!-ing abilities. USE THEM. If you have a sticky nade, stick them. If you're close to them, melee them. If you have a super, use it. I never said "only use this gun." Use whatever works best. If you're really a top pvper, you would know this, but based on what I see, you're just a dumbass with a controller. You didn't have to comment on my post just to insult me. You could've just passed by. But since you came here, I will argue with you. If you're such a great player, you wouldn't be in the forums looking at my post. Congratulations, you played yourself.
God, the level of your stupidity is unmatched.

Idiot commenter is an idiot.
-
If you have a super, use it.
When almost absolute? Lmfao, go ahead and waste your super then
If you're such a great player, you wouldn't be in the forums looking at my post. Congratulations, you played yourself.
Maybe I just don't play the game 24/7 like people think I do?
God, the level of your stupidity is unmatched.
Pfft look in the mirror
Idiot commenter is an idiot.
I know you are but what am I?
-
Edited by Levigumba, Overload's Bane: 5/17/2016 11:30:43 PMOooh. Good comebacks. Yes, because you're wasting your super which gives bonus armor, and better abilities. Yes getting free kills and more armor is such a waste. You still can't dispute the fact that you started this. And I meant you played yourself as in your logic backfired. Just thought I'd explain it you since you wouldn't be able to figure it out.
