nothing
Edit: deleted b/c of edit 3
Edit 2: The general gist of everyone's responses is to engage it at a range, which makes sense. However unless you're on Widows Court that isn't a very practical strategy. The maps in Destiny just favor close quarters engagements far too highly.
Edit 3: After reading most of the responses, I will agree that it isn't unbeatable but it is too strong. Personally I think the amount of effort it takes for someone to beat a Doctrine in a 1v1 is a lot higher than it is for the person using the Doctrine.
Edit 4: Kind of surprised I'm still seeing posts, but just to clarify I meant primaries that consistently work well against the Doctrine. Also try to list ones specifically used in Trials (since that's when those Doctrine users are at their sweatiest). And to get even more specific (if you like) the primary you used to beat a Doctrine on your 8/0 or 9/0 game.

Everything -_-. Treads Upon Stars with crowd control, high cal, and firefly smworks fine. Haakon's Hatchet works fine. PDX, Hawksaw, Raid Pulse, the Raid Handcannon (both non narrowed) work fine as well.

My paleocontact dead orbit ar. Its a range thing.
-
The vendor version Haakon's Hatchet. Out gun it at medium range. Soulstealer's Claw at shorter range.

1 ReplyHand cannons close; scout rifles at a distance, dominate. It's amazing in that area between, but shouldn't all guns have a optimal damage zone? I use a doctrine on my hunter. It compliments her cut and run build. I'm bested often enough. I'll stick with my hand canon for my titan setup.

It can be countered, but it's always situation dependant. Grasp of malok, or any high impact scout rifle have the same TTK as Doctrine, but each is suited to a different range. Grasp at mid, scouts, for mid/long. TLW has a faster TTK, but it's only better at close range.

Righteous AR from New Monarchy pre patch. Used it in Trails against a Doctrine Team.

nothing
Edit: Lol im not seeing one reliable counter to this gun. Edit 2: The general gist of everyone's responses is to engage it at a range, which makes sense. That gun is so fvcking retarded. If there is any gun you couldn't counter it would be this and Thorn
-
Hand Cannon.

Necrochasm?
-
Ah most hand cannons with good rolls will put up a good fight, same thing with good rolls on various AR. As for scout and pulse rifles. They are supposed to be used at longer ranges so yeah self explanatory. The gun is great don't get me wrong but it can be beat.

1 ReplyLiterally any other gun?

Edited by Sugar Cookee: 5/17/2016 11:48:57 PMMida? -blam!-ING idiot.

3 RepliesHonestly the best counter to it is just playing smart, use cover to your advantage, when pop in and out with a hand cannon or whatever, or throw a nade at him (ex: firebolt or smoke/nade) the gun him down. For me in trials I prefer just to headshot with a sniper or atleast hit the body then finish him. The question shouldn't be what counters it as there should not be a counter for anything (things should be on a level field [yes Ik bungie is bad at nerfing and buffing]) A better question instead of what counters, is "How to play against/ counter play: (said gun)"
-
2 Repliesjust about everything. I run a doctrine all the time and take one look at my k/d and tell me again it can't be countered.
-
I like my haakons hatchet, its not the same archetype but its a freaking laser with perfect balance and counterbalance. On my titan if you want to check it out. I play very good with it and I'm shit at pvp lol.

2 RepliesIf you see a guy with a DoP just throw a tripmines at their feet it always works. Or just wombo combo and walk away.

Pre april update TLW until that happened. So nothing because it has a small decrease of damage over very long distances.
