You know what, some people like to boast state rights. How about you stop taking the benefits then you don't have to comply.
If you are all about the state and hate the federal... Go ahead and see how long you last with just state funding.

My tax dollars shouldn't feed a bunch if butt hurt whiners trying ANY angle they can to challenge gays and be allowed to discriminate They funny thing is NONE of this would have happened if republicans would have shut their mouth. They just had to make bathrooms an issue, ensuring that laws will be in place for bathrooms. If they said nothing then people wouldn't have laws for it. They fuked themselves over as well as their state.

How are gays being discriminated against? They can do everything straight people do. There's nothing wrong with the right standing for their values. Both sides have a right to fight for what they believe. Or are you more of an authoritarian? I've got a compromise. Let the people in the states vote on the issue. Nothing more democratic than that.

The city of Charlotte DID vote on the issue, and they voted to allow it. NC then proceeded to override that and make it illegal.

I've never seen that. Thank you for the info. I've actually read a dozen articles or so on the matter. From the left, right and in between. Goes to show how hard it can be to find honest reporting now.

If you learned history, the founding fathers worried about mob rule, their voices being drowned by the masses in the assembly by those who shouted loudest... It's why certain laws and checks were set to prevent their loss of power as the elites. The US was founded on the few not the many. Have a problem? You can talk with them.

Well since we are protected from both , that means should anything pass it was meant to be passed. You also never defended my clam you only read headlines and have not actually looked at the NC package and what it entailed. Claiming it didn't discriminate obvious to your lack of knowledge on the matter.

How does having someone use the bathroom that corresponds to the sex on their birth certificate equal discrimination exactly? If you have some info as to how that's a discrimination issue is be happy to read it. Quite frankly, nobody will be able to enforce this anyway. It's what we call a nonissue. Media fabricated crap. I could have cared less until Obama did what he did.

The LGBT community made this an issue. You brought it up twice but haven't told me what's discriminatory about someone using the bathroom that matches your gender.

No their community didn't bring it up. A talking point republicans love is to say that now creepers will be able to go in girls restrooms. As if it hasn't been done before they even had marrying rights. They used that to energize the communities to do something about it as if they had the power to. Within 12 hrs they drafted the bill. This wasn't even a chronic issue but they made it seem as if it was happening everywhere. The NC bill was passed also because the dems walked out of the voting in protest of such a bill. It BLOCKS local communities from making their own ordinances to protect them from discrimination. Do you understand this? It's basically saying you aren't allowed to protect gays from discrimination. This doesn't mean just bathrooms. It means EVERYWHERE in the state. If anything it pulls more power from local cities and gives more power to the state.

Now a creeper can enter the restroom without worry of reprisal. Why don't you understand this? I can't call the police if there's a perv in the bathroom with my daughter because I would be profiling or discriminating. And yes it was something I worried about before. At least before I could call the cops. I've also only found 1 article that said some have interpreted the law to mean it could lead to discrimination anywhere. If you have a source that says it absolutely will lead to discrimination I would be happy to read it. My opinions change when new information is presented.

They told the employer (the guy was a employee) and he did nothing That was a few years ago. What makes you think that bill would make a difference? It wouldn't. He wasn't gay, just a pedo. "Make any law you want but the bad guys will still do it anyways" ~to quote people on gun rights.

I'll certainly read it and if this bill does in fact make it so people can discriminate against gays I'll have a different view on it. I may not completely agree with their lifestyle but they absolute should have the same rights as anyone else.
