I would say that the most important factor to doing well in trials is consistency and communication.
I played with a guy who wasn't very good but had amazing call outs, the dude brought a different element to the team that quite frankly is often missing.
You need to start relying more on your strengths and reinforce your weaknesses, so that you can start being more consistent.
Remember, a good player isn't one with a high kd. A good player is the one who can discern situations on the fly and make the call that gives him the greatest chance of coming out on top.

Made me smile, because it shows me that I'm hard to kill.
Just try to stay consistent and you will eventually make it.
