The difference is that wall is only around the Capitol and is heavily guarded with the nations best security, and only a fool would try putting a dent in that.
A border wall would be over 2,000 miles long, people would be committing vandalism against it every day, it'd subjected to the harshest weather conditions in America, and there would be large stretches completely unguarded because nobody wants to work as a security guard in the middle of nowhere.

Pretty sure America can build a wall to withstand bad weather. You wouldn't need people posted everywhere with the technology available now. You wouldn't even need a wall that was continuous. Desolate areas would benefit form sensors, cameras and drones. There are plenty of construction methods that would hold up against vandalism as well. It's a pipe dream I know. Democrats want new voters. Republicans want cheap labor. Border Patrol reports 600,000 crimes over a 10 year period in Texas committed by illegal aliens proves neither side cares about the safety of American citizens. I could post endless horrific stories that should have never happened.
