Jesus, how many threads did you make? lol
Your question is quite difficult. For one, if I were to choose to keep my old memories, I would be trapped in a reality of living each day without remembering what happened the last. That truly sounds like hell. Even scarier to think that real people today face that exact problem with memory loss. However, if I choose to live a life with entirely new memories, I would be a much different person than the person I know now. Isn't it our memories and lessons that make us who we are today? With those gone, we'd basically start anew. I'm not a fan of my past. But I'm proud of the person its made me to be. I'm proud of who I am right now. So, if I chose to remove my memories, would I be losing myself in the process? Would all the effort I've made throughout my years be for naught?
Though, as I think about it, I'm realizing that this is merely a question of death or rebirth. If I withhold my past memories, I am asking to die as the man I knew myself to be. My life can no longer progress. If I choose to make new memories, I'm choosing to be born again. So, I suppose I would choose to be born again. Because it's either this or death, and I'm not done living yet.
