If I'm alone and my teammates aren't within my field of vision when the heavy drops I pick it up. The radar is a deceptive tool that shouldn't be relied upon
If there are teammates nearby I usually don't pop until at least half my team is there or unless clear

Edited by SeaWolv: 4/27/2016 8:37:26 PMThere is also the case where the heavy spawn is either exposed or protected. Rusted Lands both heavy spawns are protected. Pantheon outside heavy is vulnerable to attack from a multitude of directions. Waiting on Pantheon outside heavy is a risky endeavor. So map placement is a factor as well.
