Halo 2 and 3 ONLY because of the community during that time.
I enjoyed 4 and love 5 but, the toxic community makes enjoying the game hard. Hardly anyone communicates and the ones that do are arrogant pricks or 10 yr olds who don't know wtf they're doing.
The games have evolved and gotten better IMO but, Halo 2 on Xbox Connect (look it up) and Halo 3 were more enjoyable to play because most of the player base used a MIC and communicated or at least paid attention during a game and knew callouts.

-
Because I was a kid and we didn't have the $ for Xbox live. Plus the stuff was free and IMO a lot better than XBL at the time. We picked our own game types, could mod them, boot players who were causing issues, and there were no ranks to cause issues either.

I remember using it for H:CE, but I don't recall ever sing anyone use it for H2.

O thousands of people used it for Halo 2. I believe people still do. I got on there about 2 years ago and there were a decent amount of people on there.
