If you could stop freaking out you would realize that her character in the anime has very western features, as do a lot of characters in animes. Which is way its not a big deal with who they cast.

Anime utilizes the drawing skill level that most fifth graders possess. I can understand why it would be completely impossible to tell what ethnicity our national origin a shitty line-drawn character would have.... [i] so they straight up told you.[/i] And you still are like, "no, she's western." I personally don't think she looks [i] anything,[/i] other than like a shitty line drawing with purple hair and red eyes. I'm not sure what she should be drawn like to convince you she's specifically Japanese, which is information that the story already provided. Personally I think that making live action movies out of anime is fruitless and stupid. But Jesus dude you're being pointlessly stubborn.
