So I had an idea for Borderlands 3

I posted something similar to this a few years ago in the gearbox forums and was pretty much told I was stupid and what I wanted was not in line with the core beliefs of the game. On the gearbox forums just talking about modding gets your thread locked. If you've played the Borderlands series you'll probably agree that the loot system in Bl2 wasn't that great. Good enemy loot drops were almost non-existent. Having to farm for most of the legendaries was in my opinion tedious, boring and sometimes unrewarding. Don't get me wrong, when I see that legendary laying on the ground after a skirmish it's a great feeling! But most of the time upon closer inspection it's a legendary with crappy parts and or a terrible prefix. What makes sense to me is fix the problem with things that are already in the game. Marcus, money and possibly something like eridium or moonstones. Here's my idea. Make Marcus's gun stores more realistic. If you have ever been to a real gun store you will know that besides guns there is usually a ton of gun accessories. Have Marcus sell guns, gun parts and accessories to make your existing crappy gun into something decent and useable. Say you have been using a low level green rarity Torgue assault rifle. Non matching parts no sight and it's starting to get a little weak. You have a little money saved up so you head to Marcus's shop. Money permitting you could buy the exact parts you want for that specific weapon and essentially turn a green rarity weapon into a blue or purple rarity weapon, again money permitting. You CANNOT turn purple rarity items into legendaries. That would involve changing the name of the weapon. Remember, all you would be doing is swapping crappy parts for better parts. That's the difference between white and purple rarity weapons and gear, parts and prefix. So you have taken a mediocre Torgue rifle and made it a badass purple rarity (insert prefix and name). Dr. Zed could do the same thing with shields. Now good guns/gear is only good for a few levels. What if you could bump up the level on said gear with eridium or moonstones? But what's the point of having a billion guns in a game if you're only going to use just one that you can level up? Let's be honest here, out of the billion said guns in Bl, how many are you actually using? Probably less than 100 are even worth a crap. The rest is just fluff that "might" get you by as you work your way through the game. Even the good guns you pick up might be super awesome but the sight that is on it is the one you dislike the most. Trade in a few trash guns for a new sight that better fits your taste. So there it is. Tell me what you think.
