VR isn't going to be a very big thing with the majority of consumers until it has had some time on the shelves and a lot more marketing. So the fact that only so many percentage of gamers know about it isn't surprising to me. At least that's what I think.
The added fact that a VR set costs just as much as a console will likely turn the average consumer away from purchasing one. I believe this will be the technology's biggest hurdle if it wants to be successful. If it can't rake in enough money, I get the feeling support will drop for it faster than one can blink.
