They did not really earn any respect at all. They were pretty much the lowest race of the Covenant. Even the fact that they were over breeding did not fare well with the Elites.

  • While yes they were the lowest in the totem pole and used as cannon fodder the fact that the Sangheili "saw their worth in battle" and hand them join in the fights means a lot. The Sangheili are a race of warriors, to give others the ability to fight alongside them means they had respected them.

  • What I meant was that they were still treated pretty lowly. Not as an equal to the elites. Most of them, anyways.
