Have people forgotten that geek and nerd are also suposed to be insulting?
English
-
Not really A geek for example me is a person with a above avarage interest within a subject (evetything from mlp to cars) Geek has just evolved into a megative worf then gone back to its old usr to describe specially interested people
-
Yes really. Only now are people describing themselves as nerds and geeks. Before then it was an insult. And I would describe a geek or a nerd as someone with an extremely above average interest in a topic that is considered weird or unusual, typically to the point of which they neglect personal hygiene, health and or social life.

But... a geek and a nerd are two different things? http://www.dictionary.com/browse/geek http://www.dictionary.com/browse/nerd Stating here also the origins of the word geek.
-
Yes and you can actually see where these two words start to have the same meaning. Geek:
a person who has excessive enthusiasm

a digital-technology expert or enthusiast
Nerd:
obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit
They clearly have similar meanings by this description. The description for nerd goes as far to give "a computer nerd." as an example.

Not same, similar but different

This is what I'm wondering.
