Now they need to give us a reason they revived a series that died (kind of) peacefully.

It died pretty violently with judgement. Maybe they can breathe some new life into it

They killed off the enemy that made the games plot relevant. If they knew they were going to make a sequel they wouldn't have killed off the Locust. Gears of War is dead, this is something else. -
It is something else. It is no longer the war against the locust and they acknowledge this. We will see how the swarm compares to the horde

Gears of War as a series is dead. They might as well remove the Lancers, Hammerburst and other weapons and change the name of the human army. -
We will see how this goes. I think as long as they stick to the basis of 2 and 3 they'll be fine

Well 2 had a good story because of the locust being desperate and reckless and 3 had the worst Plotholes ever. -
We don't even know what I he swarm is in 4 so we'll see how they compare to the locust

It's The Coalition and Microsoft's easy money. -
They're still trying to make a series out of this so this one needs to be good. Doubt this as you will at least they aren't trying to bring back the locust/lambent and aren't doing a prequel

A prequel made by Rod Ferguesson would most likely be good. He was great with handling the Locust. Killing the locust was stupid, especially if they knew they were just going to continue the series anyway, as the Delta Squad vs Locust ordeal was the series' money maker. -
We will see how the new generations of gears do compared to their predecessors. Maybe these might dirtier us and be just as good or even better than the originals. Though that is unlikely I have a strong feeling that these won't disappoint

Because there were still stories to be told. I didn't want a direct sequel, I wanted a kind of interquel about some other guys who were off fighting the locust elsewhere while Marcus and his friends went on their adventures. Kind of what Halo Reach did and what Judgement tried (and failed) to do. This is just as good though. There were still stories to be told. This is a story.
