A good amount of Dark Souls' fan base is cancer. 'Nough said.

  • While I'd agree that a few are, I wouldn't go as far as to say they have a very large presence.

I'm not saying that's the case, I don't understand why some people (not you) are failing to comprehend that. Unlike most (see that word "most" rather than "all") people here, I try my best to avoid speaking in absolutes, using generalizing words like "everyone", "everybody", "always", "never" et cetera.

  • The words 'a good amount' suggests that they have a very large presence, I'd not a majority. Just semantics at that point. But yes, I do see that some people are taking it too far.

  • Perhaps to you, not to me. It may be semantics, but it's also subjective. When I said "a good amount" I don't mean a large majority (originally I put that, but realized it was wrong) however, the amount of cancerous individuals I've encountered on this site alone is quite prevalent.

  • Thank you for clarifying what you meant when you said it. As you can see, a lot of people jump to conclusions. That isn't exclusive to the fanbase though, that is a characteristic of many people.

Thank you for actually conversing with me rather than taking shit out of context among other fallacies that people throw out.

  • I don't think so. Have you played any of the Souls games? Or tried to ask for help on them? Everyone is very pleasant and the game's punishing nature rids of all the cancerous adolescents.

  •
I don't think so.
I do
Have you played any of the Souls games?
I have, but that's not entirely relevant to my point or what I'm on about.
Or tried to ask for help on them?
I have, which is part of the reason I said what I initially said.
Everyone is very pleasant
>Everyone do people online not realize what the words "everyone" and "everybody" implies? I'm not going to deny that there's obviously a good number of people that are an exception to what I said -- there are always exceptions with just about anything and everything, but to say "everyone is very pleasant" is absolutely ludicrous.
and the game's punishing nature rids of all the cancerous adolescents.
Kids aren't the only ones who act cancerous, they aren't even the ones my disdain is directed at.

  • I call people kids if they are acting like them. Hell, I've met people half my age (young) that are way more civil then people that are my age. My point is that the Souls community is far from cancerous. Every community has it's trolls and such but communities like Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale are cancerous, the souls community is far from those.

  • A community can be cancerous in more ways than one, just because it's not on par with something like Minecraft or FNAF, doesn't mean it doesn't have it's own form of bullshit. If you're going to sit here and continue to say otherwise then I implore you to take off the shaders and again, I didn't say the community as a whole.

  • I still haven't heard any examples from you. I can see the trolls as part of the Souls community likes to poke fun at the newbies.

    - People go on about how hard this and that is, but will promptly berate another for not being able to do something all whilst claiming it to be easy, despite the fact they were previously bemoaning the very same thing... - Someone ask for help or tips and the majority of the responses or regurgitated memes like "git gud, scrub", "don't die" et cetera. Whether completely serious, being satirical or trolling, the shit gets old, fast And before you say, "it's just trolling, most of the time they aren't even serious." or anything else along those lines, "trolling" doesn't make it any less cancerous... - The purists and elitists that act like there's some sort of "Official Dark Souls rulebook" to enjoying the game and if you choose not to adhere to it, you're "ruining your experience". These are the people that will proclaim that it's "'better' to do this and that" or "you'll enjoy it more if you don't do this and that" despite the fact that different people enjoy different things differently. And multiple times on this site alone, I've seen people politely tell them such a thing only for the purist/elitist to get butthurt and start acting passive aggressive. It's one thing to offer suggestions, but to act like your suggestions are anything other than that is just asinine. All that, coupled with other stuff that isn't coming to mind atm, is cancerous to me. Maybe not to you, but it is to me.

  • So it's a tight community. Just because you don't like how the community works doesn't make it cancerous. The trolling and "git guds" can get old but the Souls games aren't conceptually hard, it is the punishment. If you go there saying how hard it is and blah blah they will treat it the same as we do to Destiny posts.

  • There is the 'I know you're right so I'm going to post stupid shit intending to make fun of you' comment. People like you usually do that. I would rather not go to the next part where I keep using logic and you keep trying to lower my self-esteem. So good day, unless you want to have a logical conversation.
There is the 'I know you're right so I'm going to post stupid shit intending to make fun of you' comment.
If that's how you want to take that, go right on ahead.
People like you usually do that.
and you keep trying to lower my self-esteem.
Literally what? Quote my exact post(s) where I tried to "lower your self-esteem". I haven't used any ad hominem here.
So good day, unless you want to have a logical conversation.
K. Bye.

  • Just speaking from experience here. I'm not an expert enough to make theoretical social situations so I just go by my experimental 'data', for lack of a better term. Can't win them all, you'll turn into a 'data' (again) point for my next encounter.

  • Did I say everyone or all of them? No, no I didn't. If what I said doesn't apply to you 'cause you're an exception, then there's really no point in replying.
