I have had some varying level of consistency with blocking, one scenario i had a sword and was able to directly block two Rockets without dying, an amazing feeling to say the least on another test of this one rocket killed me without question. Not sure why, It could have been the difference of legendary to exotic sword but can't say for sure. I have attempted parrying rockets at the last second in the hope that well timed blocks could stop rockets but I have had spotty results as well.
Matching an element with a sword makes it take more ammo on block. Like when you shoot a Solar shield with a Solrar weapon. That's why you were able to survive the two the rockets before. Unless you double checked that already and just got BS'd. I'd like more melee heavies as well, with improvements. Also, sword duels like Halo would be the most mashing of times. I'm guessing it's possible we could get the shield relic, but we can already block with swords. Perhaps passive blocking like the riot shield from Modern Warfare and that dome function from the Vault of glASS, too string for crucible?

  • Yeah perhaps to OP to have relics unless that's was its own crucible style, like relics only, which sounds awesome. But good call on the elemental type I hadn't thought of that at first. But I had mentioned earlier I was holding block out to another incoming sword and one hit dropped me as if I wasn't blocking at all. That doesn't seem right even if they were matching element types. Swords should be able to block other sword strikes in my opinion.

That I agree with. Melee weapons shouldn't bother each other on block due to matching elements. It should be a fixed percentage if at all, and I wouldn't mind Halo 3's "keep swinging 'til it dies" sword duels. And if it didn't take away energy, legendary swords of the same element could stand up to their exotic counterparts. I would like the shield, but I also felt the bullshit would be too strong when one person puts up a dome and the whole team is firing rockets out of it. Great for PVE, but an annoying scenario in the crucible. But why not have PVE exclusive weapon type(s)?

  • Something else to consider is that rockets deal extra damage if they hit you directly. This means that a rocket with proximity detonation can never deal its full damage because it will always detonate when it gets close, and a rocket with tracking (and no prox detonation) has a higher chance of dealing the impact damage as well as the blast damage.

  • Yeah each sword is weak to its own elemental type, exp; arc is weak to arc.
