It lowers their light level, which is a punishment in itself
They say it is. That being the case, why is an Icebreaker still a OHK to the head? They need to make the light/attack level difference a stronger penalty.
-
Light level and impact determines weapon damage. Icebreaker only lowers light level to ~295. A sniper with the same impact, even if y2, will do the exact same damage provided light level is same. The argument of "but its Y1" is the ignorant persons reasoning. Educate yourself on how it affects damage. If you want it lowered, then you need to adjust the light level on all gear.

I am educated on how it works. So educate yourself before you make assumptions because no where did I say "but it's Y1." Dropping a guardian to 295 against a 315 (20 level difference) can still one shot people is fair? I don't think so, or at least they shouldn't say light level enabled when it barely is. It should be a lot more strict, imo. I personally think they need to restructure everything as far as crucible goes. Don't make it based off someone's light level. Make their attack vs the opponent's defense. Makes no sense that a weapon influences defense and armor influences attack.

Reading through you guys chat. Interesting! Headshot OHK from a high impact sniper, y1 or otherwise, is still fair.
Reading through you guys chat. Interesting! Headshot OHK from a high impact sniper, y1 or otherwise, is still fair.
Well, I guess we'll just disagree. In regular crucible, yes, it should OHK headshot. But in Trials and IB, with light level advantages enabled, a drop of 20ish levels should not be a OHK, imo. Where's the downside to doing it? You take one less auto rifle bullet to kill, or you need to shoot one more bullet to kill (I'm exaggerating a bit, but not by much)? Doesn't seem fair. You're intentionally using low level gear in leveled playlist, so you should be punished for it, imo.

Yea well perhaps they factored it being possible to get wasted by a sidearm really quick if that headshot misses target. Anyway, you know what to do to someone at lower light using any manner ot sniper.
-
Ok, so maybe I jumped to conclusions. There are too many people on these forums who know nothing. I apologize for any rash wording. But yes, light level should definitely have bigger advantages/disadvantages, or at least more obvious differences

It's not a punishment at all.
-
Which is why its still used
-
So how is it a punishment?
-
Thats my point. If it doesnt punish us enough for equipping, then itll still be used as effectively as possible
-
So there's no punishment. I seen level 220s In Trials still killing like someone 300+. I ran trials with a guy back when pantheon was the map. He was using a new character he just made and it was like 275 light. We almost went flawless
