I think you're being a tad overly critical with regards to performance since this is a demo, a very poor demo at that, and the stepping platforms/switches are only for demonstration purposes only, they won't be in the full game.
I dislike the combat too as it doesn't feel like an FF game and a lot of people say it's similar to Kingdom Hearts (never played it tbh) which probably appeals to them. I haven't seen how this combat plays out when you have a party and i fear i would only control 1 character at a time whilst the others are controlled by an AI which I hate.

Edited by Retro_Spective: 4/4/2016 4:04:57 PMYeah FF used to be the one JRPG game you could rely on, that would have an innovative turn based system. Generic real time combat systems are a dime a dozen nowadays, they all fail in comparison to the souls series. FF has lost its identity.

Yeah I loved them, but ever since Square and Enix merged I think they've been trying to reinvent FF franchise and aim for a wider audience which hasn't been a massive success. I still have hope after seeing Hironobu Sakaguchi at the SE event, I found that to be very interesting, as well as reading about him collaborating with the makers of Bravely Default possibly creating a console game with them.

Look out for the new Dragon Quest at this year's E3. Japan's best selling RPG is due a true sequel, that's one franchise that has stayed true to its roots with turn based combat.

Combat definitelly isn't like the ff. We're used to, but it works. Its pretty much KH which isn't a bad thing either. Seems to me a lot of people who take issue wo th this game is mostly because they want an old school turn based rpg over this, which I definitely understand. As far as story goes, we dont know yet. Botj of the demos arent related to thr main scenario. Its a separate unrelated story, for both, because they are so afraid of spoilers. Or someone datamining the demos lol. FFXV will be fine.

I haven't watched or read anything about the story yet so I haven't completely written it off, the thing I find wrong is they're trying to appeal to a different fanbase than what they have/had. I do hope and would like a turn based FF to return in the future to consoles, there is a fan base for it and there doesn't seem to be any competitors( that I know of, feel free to correct) seems like an easy choice to me.

There just isnt enough of people outhere that like the classical turnbased rpgs to make it financially viable for them. Everyones been spoiled by fallouts, skyrims and witchers. For most its taking a step back. I'm still waiting for a current gen FFT or Tactics Ogre.

I do see where you're coming from however those fans didn't disappear they've just migrated to find a replacement. I do believe a turn based FF would sell as much as an action based FF they just need to take that risk but ultimately an FF with a quality story, memorable characters and that godly soundtrack they're capable of producing is what we want.
