You lose money, the govt has more say in your life and a lot of "green energy" is just another form of pollution.

"Oh noes, the government is trying to preserve our planet at the cost of me getting solar panels! God dammit I am so edgy!" Please name the pollution caused by solar energy and wind power? The only thing is the materials such as plastics and metals. Which are byproducts of all fossil fuel powered energy, as well as air pollution, which is the big one. And don't even start on the level of waste and flat out danger generated from a nuclear power stations.

Solar panels have many toxins in them. No, not on the magnitude of fossil fuels, but still not what I would call "green". Also electric cars. Most people have no idea the process and chemicals used to make the batteries. And while you're not burning fossil fuels, you have to charge it using coal. Next is all the new lighting, compact fluorescence. You're using less power (coal) to run it, but now you have mercury in the mix. I'm not against your view. But it's far from perfect. I'd rather not be forced to do something and spend more money unless the "better" products were truely clean.
