Good, let them learn about stuff that's actually interesting and useful. Been out of school for almost a decade, in the real world, and I've never once needed algebra.
If you plan on pursuing a career that needs it, then you should take algebra. Forcing everyone to learn it is stupid because for the vast majority of people, it's a waste of time.

You can argue the same about history, English, foreign languages, etc. You may not use all of algebra, math is used in nearly everything, and studies have shown that the more years of math education someone has, the better a job they will be able to have. I doubt that's merely a coincidence.

I can assure you foreign languages are important. Only some parts of English are really needed. History is useless, but there is value in it. Math might be used in everything, but you don't need to learn algebra to do 2+2.

If they actually taught English in English (by which I mean proper spelling/grammar), then you could argue for English being useful, but I highly doubt that literary analysis and the like will be useful for most people.
