It's been proven that a "chest" plate for female armor is a terrible idea. Those areas can be crushed in and put a lot of pressure on a woman's chest. It also creates points for weapons to gravitate towards (see: cleavage). The flat breast plate on male armor is the superior design as it allows weapons to slide off and is the same way female armor is designed.

The normal chest plate allows for deflection of blows. Have you never why they are rounded, smooth surface? The sword, arrow, or whatever hits it and slides off to the side rather than getting itself into a crevice making it easier to pierce.
