But it'll only be paused for you if you'd paused but not for anyone else. Does this not make sense to you or something?

You are not thinking this through. You are in Crucible. You are being attacked. You are about to die. You hit the pause button. Now you can't be killed - remember, you said people "couldn't mess with you" while paused. They don't freeze, but they can't kill you, either. There you are, sitting paused on a control zone, immortal. Does that help you?
