I think this was part of their original intent, they had multiple parts of Destiny that you needed to go outside the game to fully access (group finding, grimoire lore, etc.). Shame that they don't view the fact that LFG sites are the top method to find groups means that the community isn't interested in having the Bungie forums be a big part of their gameplay (mostly, it seems that people come here to complain and whine). If Bungie wants to be more involved in the player experience, they need to add something like this.
