In one of the grimoire cards "I'd shut them all in cells," Oryx's sibling Xivu Arath is listing all their enemies. The last entry reads

This shows that the Ahamkara are not the Hive worms, but are closely linked. Its potential that the Ahamkara have a similar symbiosis with the worms like the Hive do. It also shows that the Hive are in opposition to the Ahamkara.

Could the ahamkara be there natural predators in their home world...perhaps they were the ones who perpetuated them on the "gas level" they had which was dangerous...but there was that lleviathan space whale too...so who knows. Bungie could male so many insane bosses of those text alone.

I believe that dragons are evolved worms, for example oryx has wings. The worm finds a host and evolves the host into a ahamkara
