Elo is not a good indicator for Destiny.
Elo is not supposed to be involved with team-based activities.
Also, account recovery is a thing. So people with skill, can go onto accounts with low elo and dominate, and elo would mean shit.

but account recovery is exploiting

Exactly why elo means nothing. ~TheGreatNike
-
yeah, but your average destiny player wont pay people to up their elos.

No I got a buddy and I keep up with and even play better than occasionally in crucible. He started a new account because he didn't want to reset (I can't believe people do this). He just snipes easy targets and gets a 4 or so KD and he is up there fast. A blank slate is easy to manipulate and ditching all your losses to look better doesn't actually make you better. It actually makes you childish to even be so worried about what others think. It's a shooting game, go blow stuff up and have fun hahaha. Anyway they even go into matches against each other and all. Funny stuff man. Like having 100mil dollars of counterfeit money when everyone owns the same machine. It's not worth anything anymore.

A system that can be easily abused is not a good one. Elo ratings can be EASILY manipulated to not reflect true individual skill. ~TheGreatNike
-
well everything can be abused and manipulated, including most countries law systems. you can't really make a fully exploit proof rating system.
-
Elo rating in trials is way more bendable than any other system I've seen. Making it one of the worse system to base any type of skill with. ~TheGreatNike

name another good system in destiny.

Edited by Nike: 3/16/2016 9:38:42 PMFrom my opinion, I'd say that DTR true skill is a nice rating system. It is not just based of win/loss, but many other factors such as kill/death/assist. It takes quite a while to reach 50, and that for me makes a better indicator, albeit, not perfect. ~TheGreatNike
-
yeah i guess, but it is another rating system based on if you play a lot, you get more points. I have friends that have crazy KD's but only play an hour a week and their DTR's are like 15-20.
-
It's not just based on if you play a lot, it can go up and down, depending on consistency in your gameplay. If you tend to quit games, it will go down, even if you have a high kd. I'd rather have that because DTR True Skill shows more experience than Elo can. Because it is one hell of grind to 50. ~TheGreatNike

lol im definitely grinding to 50 in trials. i think im at 37 right now

Have fun. ~TheGreatNike

why does it say my Elo is top 1 percent? it says im diamond 1...
-
That's for Destiny Tracker, they use their own system. Tracker started their own elo system on Dec. But it's still not a good system either. I'm top 200 in Destiny Elo in tracker, and I'm saying it's not a good system. ~TheGreatNike

i see it took you 3 months to hit 50. i guess i will have fun...

heh well that's an inflated stat i can brag about
