It probably does have a little bit of skill based matchmaking, but as you go up in wins you get more teams that are composed of high skilled players. I bet the game just try's to find you a match as quickly as possible, so you end up getting whatever you get because that's what's available at the time.

True, but the problems is made worse by trials MM pairing you with teams with an equal amount of wins. Skill doesn't seem to have a big influence here.

Maybe. I think it should pair people based off how many times they have been flawless. That way more people have a chance to get to the lighthouse.
