Honest question - how many members do you actually need?
How can you ensure all your new members are able to get into a raid/event if you're only doing 50 'official' ones a week (250 player ceiling if we assume in best case scenario one admin per raid and an individual member signs up for one event only)?
It looks like you haven't even got capacity to support your current 850 members...maybe if you limit members to one raid per month?

Let me see if I can shine some light on this question which I feel is very opinionated so it will vary between people. How many members do you actually need? I do not see a reason to put a restriction on the number of people you can play with for the sole reason that not everyone is always able to play at the same hour of every day or be able to play every week. From what it seems you are making the assumption that people will always be playing this game every day or be able to log on every week. This is what I view as an issue with small clans. There might become a time maybe scarce but it can occur that you are not able to field a full fireteam because the people in your clan are not able to log on. While with our clan having more people if one person is not able to log on it is not as big of an issue because there is going to be another person who can. The next issue you bring up is based on an average. The average is taken over how many events have gone off each month for an extended period of time. As our clan has grown, our average of raids per month has gone up. This does not mean that we only did 200 raids last month because that is the average. That 200 just represents the middle ground of all our monthly raid data. I have not looked up February yet but for January we had 356 raids go off for that month. Now if you go back to the previous point about how people are not always able to log on every week or every day I would say we are able to provide organized raids for the majority of our members. Just remember that the 356 is based off of organized raids, it does not include pick-up raids that were started in our group chat which we are not able to track.

You didn't really answer the question - you guys will just keep recruiting so you've got a large enough internal LFG pool? And if we're also going to have a theoretical debate about averages you should probably take your 356 raids for January and divide it by three, as your regular raiders will run all three characters. You'll have up to three admins in a raid probably too, so again you're not able to offer enough 'official' events for even half of your current members. Why keep recruiting them if so many won't even be able to play?

As we grow we promote more admins. As we gain more admins we can the ability to post more events. As we post more events our average per month will go up. You are assuming again. The assumption is that everyone has 3 characters to raid on. That is not always the case. It also falls back into if a person has three characters you are assuming they will always have the time to run all three characters. It appears to me that your opinion on this matter (as I said is very opinionated) is that you want to limit the number of people in your clan because you are assuming people in a clan will always be able to play every week on all three characters.

It's the Internet - people are supposed to be opinionated! The assumptions are well founded though and could be proved if you dug deeper into your raid data.

Where am I saying you can't have an opinion? I clearly say that the question is very opinionated so here is how I feel so as to not make it sound like I am trying to talk for other people. Generally if you are going to try and state something as fact you would do the research yourself instead of making a statement, "I am right go look yourself". Generally has more weight behind it.

I have done research by running a tracker and maintaining a database of player activity for xax. So quite confident in my opinion.

Sounds kinda stalker-ish to me. Seems like you have an obsessive fascination to our clan, might be bordering on the side of unhealthy.
-
Ha, I don't keep it running you plum - that would be creepy
-
Still sounds creepy though, maybe because I can't judge tone when I only see words. Maintaining a database on xAx members when you left the clan due to I believe a differing of opinion. Kinda got like the x-files song playing in my head right now.

I'll add you to it later - bet you've got lovely stats.

as long as you don't look at my crucible stats...then yes
