Is your body without consciousness a person?
-
Would you feel the exact same in a 600 lb body? Your body matters. You've become accustomed to waking up everyday in your own skin.

Edited by Nuka: 3/8/2016 9:33:07 AMThat doesn't answer the question Though obviously yeah, you would feel completely different in another body

Edited by Some Black Guy: 3/8/2016 9:37:19 AMWhat did I just say? You literally asked "Are you still the same person?" Obviously, you aren't physically, since you acquired a new body. Your family and friends wouldn't see you the same way 100% in a different body, neither would you, yourself. You were born in a certain body, you grew up, and developed in that body. Transferring your mind is one thing, but a new body is a different thing. Which is why I said mentally, yes, physically, no. You are 100% the same, personality wise. Physically, no. However, you don't know if your new body can eat certain foods or go certain places, like your old body, and that to would slowly change you mentally. You already stated this in the thread.

I asked a different question, just to see where you were going with what you were saying. If your body without its consciousness was still enough to constitute a person. Geez man, take a breather.

Edited by Nuka: 3/8/2016 9:48:02 AMAlternate question: Is the family you were related to before still your family if you have entirely new DNA? Are you now family to the people your new body is related to?
-
Alternate question: Is the family you were related to before still your family if you have entirely new DNA? Are you now family to the people your new body is related to?
Subjective. Some people with biological families may feel that way, due to their new DNA. Some may not care at all, family is still family. Memories relate them, not DNA, to them. People who were adopted and never had any biological ties to their adoptive family, will not feel different.
-
Since a lot of this is pretty subjective: if you were put into this senario, how would you see family?
-
I can't speak in a biological sense, since my family adopted me as a baby. I see them as my real family, regardless of skin color or DNA. For others, I know they'd freak out and some may not care, depending on the body they were placed in. I assume they'd feel more freaked out in a different sex body. That'd be Even more different for the family as well.

Interesting perspective, thanks for sharing.

Alright, well that answers that.
