But if you do the Valus Tu'uarc strike. At the end boss fight look at the phalanx's shields. They have a unusual mark on them. This could mark them as praetorians. But your VoG theory. Praetorians protect their emperor correct? Well the Vault of Glass is a living Vex machine. Their emperor even. Although the reason they are named praetorians is unknown to this day.

The cabal on the moon were scared of oryx yeah. But they were also ordered to kill oryx and take over the Dreadnought. They fear their empire even more than oryx.
