How can you tell if someone cheats on Trials?
Yesterday we got to 8-0 for the second time (yay), and we’ve not made it to the Lighthouse yet, so the next match was very important to us.
We came up against these dudes that had bulletproof heads. I’m positive I did, not one, but a few clean headshots that did not count (zero damage). Absolutely sure.
Is it possible that they were cheating, or could there be another reason?
If we find ourselves in a similar situation again, is there something we can do?
They game’s not perfect, I know that, and it’s not the first time that lag caused confusing results. But yesterday’s loss hurt and felt so unfair.

1 ReplyNot in Trials, but yesterday in salvage I was always running into yellow bars. I mean constant. I was the only green bar. As my Hunter I was shooting this guy and doing miminal damage so tossed my knife at his melon. Straight between the eyes and still alive. He put a few shots in me and killed me dead. He then ran out the door and died. Stick around popped up on my screen. This had to be about 5 seconds after I got him with the knife. He managed to kill me, reload and run to the door before it registered. I'm thinking 3v3 may be buggered.

1 ReplyI don't really think there's a way to know for sure. To many variables from our end. Your connection your teams connections every member of the other teams connection. Plus bungies system. It's like how can we ever know if players are actually cheating, hacking, or exploiting a lag trick if from our end we can only see so much and so much of what we see is convoluted because of lag from their end & ours.

3 RepliesReduce your own lag by: • first and foremost, have your own internet connection. The practice of people leeching it from their neighbours or nearby businesses is becoming more common and will obviously cause lag. • have wireless router? Get a wired connection to your console. • ensure your tv is set up for gaming by either putting it into game mode or configuring (the console feed to your tv can lag if not set up right)

3 RepliesJust ran across a warlock with my friends in trials just last night he killed me but took a hammer from a super and two melee punches from my friend and didnt stop moving at all, but hes reported for his cheating so his ban is assured.

1 ReplyThey're playing Trials. No, just kidding. I'm not sure I would be able to tell -- the only time it would be obvious would be predictable "good connection -- oh wait, now they're teleporting everywhere when I get the drop on them -- and now they're back to good connections." Otherwise, I think that's something Bungie will have to investigate. And as for headshots not registering, that is more likely lag than active cheating -- it looked like a good kill to you; on their end, they'd already moved, but it hadn't updated your machine yet.

I wish I knew what was cheating as we ran into these guys. I have not done much trials and really suck at it but the reason I have not done more of it is because EVERY single time we try it we run into at least 1 team like this and then we just lose it after and don't touch it for a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uybq3pXv-fo&feature=youtu.be

1 ReplyCheating is definitely possible. I wish Bungie would post the people that get banned on a site so we could know the cheaters. Maybe if they're brought out into the open, they won't do it again.

2 RepliesI don't know man, one time last trials I went into a game and the game lost all sound and my frame rate dropped, I couldn't be any help to me team at all. Right after the game every thing came back and was good. I'm not sure why it happened but I reported the other team because it was extremely suspicious.
