Actually now that I think about the name... It could be from American sniper.
Some of you may not watch R rated movies so you won't know (I don't either, but I found a website that filters stuff out)
Anyways without spoiling too much, (read at own risk of spoilers)
[spoiler]a very good sniper, named Chris something (forgot last name) had his team pinned down by a terrorist sniper that hits his mark at over 1000 meters out. (Hence, thousand yard stare) so Chris took the chance of revealing the location of his team to the terrorists and killed their sniper from over 1000 meters as well, even if this isn't the true name for it, it's a good connection. Also, 1k stare does talk about yknow looking into others lives n stuff or whatever, which connects to Chris himself as he suffers from PTSD, a very traumatic disease that basically makes you relive parts of your life that no one should ever have to see twice, let alone once. His name was Chris Kyle. The "Thousand Yard Stare" has nothing to do with the movie or a distance a sniper is from the target. The movie, while good, took a few liberties and embellished the story a little bit. Not knocking the movie, it was great. Read the book written by Chris Kyle also titled American Sniper. You want the story, that's where to get it. Not some luke warm summary off a website.
